This tidal estuary and lagoon that everyone can enjoy on land and by boat has miles of tracks and designated paths that are perfect for a stroll or serious walking; many visitors enjoy them by bike or Segway, if you're less fit and doing it strictly for fun. You can explore along the Ria, cross footbridges to the beach islands, explore the salt pans which are a permanent home to flamingoes, take a circuit around the airport for exciting take off and landing views and all the way to Faro island with its amazing beach and fantastic fish restaurants. 

 The nearest water-based activities are at the water sports centre on the beautiful Quinta do Lago lake, which is a short 600m walk and as well as watersports, there are several restaurants with impressive water views. The spectacular beach at Quinta do Lago and other beautiful beaches in the area are within a 10 minute drive, there's an impressive footbridge over the Ria Formosa to the golden sands. Visitors will also enjoy an impressive choice of designer boutiques, trendy restaurants and bars offering a sophisticated atmosphere in the Quinta shopping mall, located near the entrance into the estate.
