Anyone who knows Carvoeiro knows the brilliant villas built by Jorge de Lagos, he knew how to get the best holiday property out of every plot and the communities he created were within walking distance of the beach and local facilities.
The hallmarks of a good Jorge de Lagos villa include spacious and well proportioned rooms that flow logically. A master bedroom with en suite bathroom and two guest rooms, built-in storage and dressing tables, access from almost every room onto the enclosed and secluded pool terrace, via patio doors with insect screens. On the terrace there’ll be a spot or two for shaded outdoor dining by the pool and built-in barbecue and a private roof terrace where you can enjoy views to the sea, there's also an enclosed internal courtyard with a second barbecue and an impressive drive that makes you feel like you've arrived.
This particular example has just been refurbished and they’ve made a super job of it too, it’s a perfect villa, comfortable and well equipped with a very secluded pool and terrace and, there’s a shallow splash section for the smaller children.
Within a few minutes stroll of the villa is the Vale do Milho golf club, it's a challenging 9-hole course with fabulous views especially from the clubhouse, also a favourite with non-golfers for good value lunches and drinks in the restaurant and bar.
Just down the hill (and also within walking distance) is the stunning Centianes beach, it has a swathe of golden sand backed by golden cliffs and there's a good beach restaurant there too. Just up the road is the Rocha Brava resort, it has a cafe, a family restaurant and supermarket plus a good tennis centre with courts for hire and coaching, if you need it. Whilst it's pool or beach during the day, in the evening everyone enjoys a walk to try a new restaurant or an old favourite, many enjoy the walk into town for a wider choice of amenities and catch the road train back up the hill or a taxi.
The villa has a large master suite with twin mattresses that can be zipped together into a super king-size bed, air conditioning, patio doors to the pool terrace and ensuite bathroom with a bath and shower stall. At the other side of the villa are two generous twin bedrooms, each with air conditioning, doors to the pool terrace and a family bathroom with over-bath shower. Guest toilet.
Well-equipped kitchen with built-in appliances and granite work tops, hatch and access to the dining area and the attractive lounge with air conditioning, wood burner and a huge TV. Patio doors to an outdoor dining area, shaded by a retractable awning with steps down to the pool and sun terrace on a lower level. There's also an inner courtyard with a built-in dining table with a second barbecue and steps up to the roof terrace, enjoy your sundowners up there with pretty views to the sea over the rooftops.
Externally the villa is also very good, the pool (with children’s shallow section) sits in an enclosed and secluded terrace with lots of room for sun loungers, there's a pool shower and a large built-in barbecue with a choice of places to eat.
Private swimming pool, 9m x 5m, 1.2m to 2.25m deep, integral steps, children’s shallow section, pool can be heated for a supplementary charge of £150 pw.
