Holiday villas in Fano Le Marche Italy from the Villa Company:

Fano

Our Le Marche villas are situated in one of the most beautiful regions of Italy. We love this region because it has a marvellous combination of seaside and a relatively undiscovered hinterland, which is every bit as pretty and dramatic as many of the more well known regions of Italy. You can select from private villas with pools in the Le Marche and Emilia-Romagna regions of Italy, which have recently acquired a following for villa and beach holidays in Italy. Those in the know have taken villa holidays in Le Marche more and more in recent years, in search of tranquillity, beautiful scenery and pretty, timeless villages. Don't be put off by the proximity of Rimini, a busy seaside resort, as once you step inland about 10 miles from the coast it is so beautiful you'll feel as if you're in another country. However, being near to Rimini is handy for access to the airport.

Holiday villas Fano Le Marche Italy - Gastronomy:

The towns of Fano, Torrette and Marotta, along a 20km stretch of coastline, hold the gastronomic secrets of fish cuisine which have been developed over time into a rich art. The Adriatic sea is one of the richest areas for fishing, it is therefore no surprise that fish is the main element in the gastronomic tradition of the Le Marche province and that hundreds of restaurants provide an infinite number of ways to prepare it.

Brodetti alla marinara (a variety of different fish cooked in broth), tender frutti di mare and 'trufelli', fish which is pan fried, grilled, or roasted in paper, in pastry or even in crusted salted - there are so many fish specialities available, all served with the gentle but decisive local wine.

Fano

If you enjoy fish then Fano and the Adriatic riviera certainly won't disappoint you; but if you have yet to discover its delights then prepare yourself for a great gastronomic experience. While on holiday in Fano it's also a good idea to explore the countryside and find some of the authentic eateries in the small villages, you'll enjoy 'home-cooked' specialities and good value for money.

Grapes were grown in the Fano area as long ago as the 8th-10th Century BC by Etruscan tribes. They understood the potential of the landscape, the mildness of its climate and the variety of micro-climates most favourable to the rich variety of grape found here. A passion for wine growing developed over time and has led to the production of a number of excellent wines which are now classified with the label Denominazione di Origine Controllata. Around the province of Pesaro and Urbino you can find the following particular DOC classified wines: Bianchello del Metauro, Colli Pesaresi Rosso (including the DOC Focara wine), Colli Pesaresi Bianco (including the DOC Roncaglia wine) and Novello dei Colli Pesaresi.
