Villa Holidays in Tizzano - Overview

Tizzano is a hamlet of Sartene with a little fishing port, a small fortress and vineyards. Tizzano is a small idyllic inlet, with a white beach flanked by a delightful cafe and restaurant serving dishes inspired by the day's catch. To either side of Tizzano are more beautiful beaches many of which are remarkably free of people, especially in low season. Tizzano is a small beach side village that, in spite of its obvious appeal, remains very well off the beaten track. There has been some development of attractive new villas; these hug the western side of the valley, giving great views of the beach and surrounding countryside without detracting from Tizzano's charm, and managing to enhance its appeal. Tizzano is also a paradise for diving or snorkelling, horse riding or walking excursions.

Tizzano - Eating Out

Tizzano features an attractive selection of eateries that mainly specialise in fresh fish. We particularly enjoy the laid back ambiance at Chez Antoine, ideally set with a shaded deck overlooking the marina (where you can often buy fresh fish in the mornings).

Tizzano - Beaches

As well as Tizzano's main beach, which is a stunning crescent of white sand, there are other beaches reached by an unmade track that runs down the western headland; just look for the cars parked and follow the most obvious footpath down to pretty little sandy coves.

Tizzano - Out & About

The only road into Tizzano comes from the Medieval town of Sartene, a short 15 minutes' drive away and well worth exploring. Ignore what's said in the guide books and take an hour or two to discover the real Sartene! There are winding lanes to explore that lead to the central square with restaurants and cafes in a very attractive setting. For special occasions, or if you just fancy sampling some of the best food around, head for 'Domaine Santa Barbara' in Sartene. It is owned and run by Giselle Lovichi who is hailed as one of the finest chefs in France. You may have to book!

If you're taking a holiday in Tizzano, the route from Figari airport takes you past the natural spectacle of Rocapina - a breathtaking granite headland topped by a recumbent lion fashioned by nature. There are photo opportunities with safe parking and the beach here is pretty special too.

Also well worth visiting, whilst you're on holiday in Tizzano, is Propriano - another seaside town on Corsica's west coast, in the bay of Valinco. Also the beautiful seaside village of Campo Moro is a favourite spot of ours.

Tizzano - South West Corsica area overview

The south west of Corsica is a very popular holiday destination and no wonder; with its picture postcard bays and beaches, soft white sand and azure blue seas with the backdrop of gently sloping hills, who wouldn't want to holiday here! South west Corsica is a fabulous location for a relaxing holiday. Throughout most of the year its beautiful beaches are lapped by warm seas with coastal breezes and crystal clear waters providing ideal conditions for a wealth of watersports activities; including diving, snorkelling, water skiing, jet skiing, windsurfing and sailing. South west Corsica has many scenic walks and, for the more adventurous, organised canyoning, canoeing and rafting are also available. If that's not enough there is always pony trekking and mountain biking amid beautiful Corsica scenery. South west Corsica boasts one of the most spectacular golf courses in the world, the 18 hole international Golf de Sperone near Bonifacio, designed by Robert Trent Jones. We found it awesome just riding around the course on a buggy!
