Unlike holiday villas in most other countries, our range of villas in America are 'real homes'; built, furnished and equipped for people and families to live in - so they're perfect for your holiday.

Florida Villas occupancy and extra beds

Many other companies show their villa prices based on 8 sharing a 3 bedroom home and 10 sharing a 4 bedroom home. We don't think this is acceptable to guests nor to the owners of the villas. To keep our selection of villas in Florida special, we normally limit the number of guests to the optimum comfort capacity: Up to 6 people in a 3 bedroom villa, up to 8 in a 4 bedroom villa and so on. Extra beds can often be provided for a weekly charge, to accommodate an extra child for example.

All the Florida villas we offer are privately owned; decorated and furnished to each owner's individual taste. Most have pleasant, fresh Florida-style decor and some are a little more individual. It's easy for you to see interior furnishing style of your chosen accommodation from the interior photographs shown on the villa's information page.

Every villa is equipped with a phone and local calls are free. You can make long distance calls and pay for them using a credit card, BT calling card or one of the new generation of pre-paid calling cards available locally. Just dial your number then follow the instructions over the phone or on the card. Emergency service calls are free.

What to expect from your Villa Company Florida Villa

The comfort and convenience offered by our villas in Florida is wonderful; they are very well appointed and often complete with gadgets we don't have at home. Generally you can rely on full air conditioning, deep pile carpeting and convenient tiling for true home comfort.

Cable TV, usually with up to 37 channels is standard and most of our Florida villas now feature a VCR (video cassette recorder) and a stereo.

Kitchens have a full cooker with oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer and often a coffee machine and blender as well as ample crockery, pots and pans.

Laundry with oversized washer and separate dryer, essential for a family holiday. A full load of up to 20lbs can be washed and dried in an hour so there's no need to pack so much - just wash and wear your favourites. There's also an iron and ironing board. Each Florida villa is complete with ample linen and towels, just wash and change them as you find it necessary.

Living areas are comfortably furnished and often extremely large and spacious. Great room designs feature an open plan living area with kitchen, breakfast area, dining area and cosy lounge with TV and often a VCR. Larger Florida villas have a formal sitting and dining area as well as a family room with kitchen, breakfast or informal dining area and cosy lounge with the TV and VCR.

The master bedroom will have a walk-in closet and en suite bathroom, usually with an oval bath and a separate shower cubicle. Many master bedrooms also have a second TV and usually a phone. Almost all bedrooms have deep pile carpeting, built-in storage and hanging space. Family bathrooms usually have a shower over the bath and are often accessible from the pool terrace.

Each villa is cleaned and ready for your arrival with the beds made and towels laid out for you. Maid service is not usually provided but can be arranged for a fee. Just change your beds as required, the washer and dryer in each home is so efficient that it's just not a problem to do the laundry.

Swimming pools in our Florida villas are serviced weekly and not always on the day you arrive. If the water in your pool isn't clear and you can't see to the bottom (or if algae is present) then please call the local manager. When it rains, dust can wash off the screen and into the pool. This is usually removed by the swimming pool's filters after a while or during the weekly service. Some dust in the pool will do you no harm. Lawns are also attended weekly, particularly during summer when the grass shoots up very fast. Many Florida villas have auto irrigation to keep the lawns looking good during the drier winter season. Don't worry if the lawn looks a little brown, it just means that there isn't an automated system and it is in need of rain.

Pools in our Florida villas

The cage you see over most pools is covered in a fine mesh that helps keep dust, leaves and small animals out of the water, it isn't glass and you will still get sun tanned through it. Most pools can also be heated, usually at extra cost. We detail the heating method on each Florida villa's description beside its dimensions in feet. Heating costs are shown in the price booklet.

  • Solar heating gathers heat from the sun, is effective in mild weather and is usually provided free.
  • Electric heating uses a heat pump to extract warmth from the air and warm the water. It's more effective than solar in cooler temperatures but will not operate if the air drops below 50°F. Heating is charged weekly and you should expect water temperatures of 78-82°F.
  • Gas heating runs on propane or occasionally mains gas, this is the most effective way to heat a pool but can get expensive if you want to maintain higher temperatures. A charge is made for the gas you use and a deposit is often taken to cover costs.

Florida villa pool terraces & decks

You'll find that the terrace around the swimming pool is the most well used area of the villa during your Florida holiday. You can make it complete and hire a gas barbecue! Almost every day is ideal weather for grilling steaks and burgers. Take care with the pool screen though, if there is one, as the mesh is fairly delicate and easily damaged.

Pool etiquette: Please remember that Florida is part of America's deep south, where attitudes to nudity (amongst other things) are not so liberal as in Europe. Just going topless could mean a visit from your local law enforcement officer!
