Ocean Golf Course. Ocean is an established golf course and had a strong influence on placing the Algarve on the golfing world map. Some of the holes take you along the cliff top with the blue Atlantic sea as the backdrop.
Pinheiros Altos Golf Course. Located within the well known Quinta do Lago estate this golf course enjoys a solid reputation.
Quinta do Lago South Golf Course. This is the golf course that has been used several times for the Portuguese Open.
Quinta do Lago North Golf Course (Ria Formosa). The golf course has four great par-5 holes requiring power and accuracy to play them well, also providing superb views.
Royal Golf Course. This golf course has combined existing holes from the original Vale do Lobo golf course and some special interesting new holes.
San Lorenzo Golf Course. Located in the Quinta do Lago estate this golf course enjoys a good reputation for the condition of its course and its attractive views around the lake formed by Ria Formosa. It has been ranked in the past as the second best course in Europe.

Quinta do Lago is in the Almancil area, which is a superb base from which to explore the rest of the Algarve. With the new motorway network now completed you can reach places as far apart as Tavira and Carvoeiro in well under an hour. Faro, the capital, is an easy drive away and as well as the superb shopping complex the old town has excellent fish restaurants.

Close to the east of Almancil is a small village named Sao Lourenco. The church here is well worth a visit as it is covered inside with beautiful 18th Century ceramic tiles and is an outstanding example in the Algarve. In the street leading up to the church you will find the Sao Lourenco Cultural Centre which is open to the public. This Centre has been established for many years and hosts regular art exhibitions and classical music events
