Carvoeiro town centre with its great selection of restaurants, bars and shops is a short drive or taxi ride away.

Vale da Lapa Algarve Villas & Holidays - Beaches:

Carvoeiro is a fabulous location to enjoy an Algarve beach holiday. The closest beaches to Vale da Lapa are Vale de Lapa beach, Paraiso beach and the town beach. Carvoeiro town beach is right beside the town centre and has all the amenities you could need close by. Travelling east, the Algor Seco is a popular spot for snorkelling and diving with dramatic cliffs plunging into the sea.

Almanzor beach is in front of the Almanzor hotel with access through the hotel or a narrow footpath that runs down the side of the hotel. A small yet very attractive Algarve beach with a cave open to the sea. Facilities are available in the hotel including tennis courts.

The next beach along the Carvoeiro coast is Centiannes, a wonderful stretch of golden sand backed by high cliffs. There's also an excellent bar restaurant beside the sands. Smuggler's beach, also known as Alfanzina, is reached by steps that wind down from the club Atlantico estate. The steps pass through a tunnel cut into the rock and onto the magnificent beach below. There are no facilities here so you'll need to take a picnic but it's well worth it.

Benagil is the next Algarve beach. The minor coastal road drops steeply into the valley and passes right beside it. Still used to land the day's catch, you'll see brightly painted boats up on the sand. It also means fresh fish is available at the beach bar and restaurants close by.

Marinha beach is the last of Carvoeiro's beaches heading east, still in the Carvoeiro area, there's a large car park and broad steps down to the sand, stunning cliffs to the rear, rocky columns and a handy beachside restaurant and which bar make this a firm favourite with guests on an Algarve beach holiday.

Golf: The 9 hole golf course at Vale do Milho is handily located close to Carvoeiro's town centre. There's a fine club house with bar restaurant that's popular at lunchtimes. The Sesmarias Country Club is a fine recent addition to the Carvoeiro area with two superb golf courses - Gramacho and Pinto - and there's an attractive club house with restaurant and bar.

Tennis: There are extensive tennis facilities in the Carvoeiro area with coaching available at Rocha Brava and the Carvoeiro Club Tennis Centre.

Watersports: Carvoeiro's Farragudo beach has a range of watersports, jet skis, windsurfing and pedaloes for hire.

Boat trips: There are several boat trips available in the Carvoeiro area, exploring the fantastic coastline and stopping at exotic beaches. Perhaps the most memorable day out and under sail is aboard Santa Bernada - a replica caravelle, which departs from the old sardine pier in Portimao on weekdays.

Waterslide Parks: A hit with all the family on holiday in Carvoeiro. There are two parks nearby, Aqualand at Alcantarilha (the Big One) or Slide and Splash at Lagoa.
